S.P.O.T

Hi - what a wonderful site, and I'm looking forward to connecting with many people, young and old.  I am a character education professional who teaches what some people call anti-bullying programs.  However, it think that putting "anti" in front of something quite often dooms the effort to failure, so I prefer to call it "pro-kindness", because that is exactly what it is.  I also have written a book that teaches children about kindness and assists them to understand the importance of empathy.  I have five children--two of the are special needs and were bullied a lot.  I was bullied in school, mostly in elementary and junior high by.... girls.  No surprise there, eh?  I was called fat and ugly, excluded, and I carried that pain into my adulthood. Now I have turned that around into doing something constructive and positive for others, and that has also served to bring me great joy.
